Barred Island Preserve

Our property abuts the Island Heritage Trust and Nature Conservancy's trail. Low tide creates a sandbar walkway to a smaller island. Be mindful of the tide and the time before you go across.  Please note that dogs are not permitted on the trail due to the fragile ecosystem.

Hiking Trails, Parks, and Beaches

🐾- Pet friendly

Edgar M. Tennis Preserve 🐾

Totaling approximately 115 acres, this preserve was donated for all to enjoy. 

Settlement Quarry 🐾

A former granite quarry turned nature hike. Mossy trails lead to views of Webb Cove and surrounding islands. 

Shore Acres 🐾

A 1.5-mile hike with an enchanting walk through moss-covered knolls, rocky beaches, and island views.

Crockett Cove Woods

Donated by Emily Muir. Although it is only the next cove over, it is still about a 10-minute drive from Aragosta.

Carrying Place Preserve

A 2.1 mile trail through mossy forest. Some climbing. Cove View Trail goes along the ocean.

Lily Pond 

Fresh-water swimming hole. There are picnic tables in the park and a boat launch for canoes or kayaks. 

Causeway Beach 

Long beach next to the causeway taken to get to the island. Dogs allowed under voice control or on leash. 

Reach Beach 

On a clear day, you can see mountains in Acadia National Park! 

Mariner’s Memorial Park

Nestled among a beautiful meadow there are views of Long Cove.

Small Cove Park

With picnic tables and a playground, this park is the most family-friendly. Located downtown in Stonington with an ocean view. 

Sand Beach

Recommended for the best sunsets on the island! Boasts of two beach areas, one with views of Mark Island Lighthouse. 

Bridge End Park

Hosts picnic tables, ocean views, and a take-out eatery called LDI Lobster.
