WHY WE LOVE IT: 8 Minute Drive from the Inn. Wertheim hosts a variety of habitats including oak-pine woodlands, grasslands and fresh, brackish and salt water wetlands. These habitats attract and support many types of wildlife including white-tailed deer, osprey, muskrat, fox, turtles, frogs and fish.

WHY WE LOVE IT: 15 minute drive from the Inn. Prosser Pines is a unique and rare forest and is one of the oldest surviving White Pine Plantations to exist on the eastern seaboard of the United States.

WHY WE LOVE IT: 20 minutes from the Inn. Wide, hard packed trail is fairly stroller friendly. Phenomenal vistas and is known for its abundance of hiking trails, beach access, and brilliant scenic views. Dogs on leashes welcome. Favorite nearby restaurant: Lucharito (excellent tacos, outdoor seating)

William Floyd Estate

WHY WE LOVE IT: William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, was born in the house in 1734. In 1976 William Floyd's great-great-granddaughter, Mrs. Cornelia Floyd Nichols, and her children donated the house to the National Park Service. From Memorial Day to Columbus Day, visitors can explore the estate grounds, including twelve outbuildings, the family cemetery, and 613 acres of forest, fields, marsh, and trails.
