El Yunque National Forest, located about 45 minutes from San Juan, is the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System and one of Puerto Rico’s most iconic natural treasures. Taxi or Uber to El Yunque, it's NOT ideal. Return rides are hard to get due to poor cell service, and Uber isn’t allowed to pick up inside the forest. Taxis are also pricey. Renting a car or booking a guided tour is a much better and more reliable option. Arriving early helps secure parking.
