Arrival & Check-in Procedure
Check-in: 4:00pm - 5:45pm
1. If you are using a GPS, we suggest inputting 1105 Sagamore Rd, Raquette Lake, NY 13436 or “Sagamore Institute of the Adirondacks” to help guide you to the guest bridge (we’ve noticed that inputting “Great Camp Sagamore” may take you to the gift shop instead).
2. As you come to Sagamore Road from Route 28, you will be turning down a dirt and gravel road that is well maintained by the DEC. The drive down that road is approximately 4 miles through beautiful, lush, Adirondack wilderness. You will cross the first bridge.
3. When approaching camp you will come to a fork in the road. Follow the sign for "Overnight Guests" (left). You will arrive at a second bridge with a gate that says “Registered Guests”. Open the gate, drive through, and please close the gate behind you.
4. Cross the bridge, stay to the right, and proceed forward, up the hill to the Guest Parking lot on the left. If you reach the upper part of camp where the barns are located, you have driven too far and passed the lot.
5. Once you have parked in the Guest Parking lot, walk the gravel path that leads from the Northeast corner of the lot (next to the line of spruce trees). Past the Playhouse and Tennis Court, you’ll find the Collins Building where we will be waiting to welcome you and check you into camp! Please do not arrive before 4:00pm, we cannot begin check-in early and will ask you to wait in the Lounge.
6. Once checked in, you will be free to drive your vehicle to your lodging and pull up briefly (10-minutes max) outside to move into your accommodation. Be aware that you will be responsible for transporting your belongings into your lodging room/cabin.
7. Please return your vehicle to the Guest Parking lot promptly after unloading as we strive to minimize the instance of vehicles around camp for safety and to optimize the guest’s experience of being immersed in our unique historic setting. Unless you are leaving campus, your vehicle should remain in the guest lot for the duration of your stay.
8. Unless you are told differently at check-in, at 5:45pm (15 minutes prior to dinner) there will be a brief, but mandatory, orientation in the Collins Building (where you checked in). You will meet with staff to learn many helpful tips, useful information, and safety precautions for your stay.
